Liam had a love of horses, and a strong equine theme was another core pillar of his portfolio. One can see a continuation of his fascination with the mother-child relationship, through his mare and foal.

Through his depiction of Becher’s Brook in 1972, he captured the drama of competitive horse-racing, perhaps a prophesy for a series of disasters at Aintree’s notorious fence later that decade.
